Secured Mail hub in Luton opens creating up to 200 new jobs

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, conducted the official opening of the leading edge Secured Mail e-commerce and mail hub in Luton on Wednesday 17 September 2014.

Secured Mail was founded by CEO Mark Bigley in 2005 as a result of liberalisation of the UK Postal Service. From small beginnings in Liverpool the business grew to be recognised in the 2011 Sunday Times Fast Track Awards as the UK’s 2nd fastest growing business. Secured Mail now works in partnership with some of the largest producers of mail in the UK. The Luton hub is a fully automated mail and parcel distribution centre and is the first of its kind and a market leader.

Backed by venture capital firm Next Wave Partners Secured Mail has recently invested £5M in their Luton hub on new automation facilities and fleet vehicles.

Mark Bigley commented “Luton fits our strategy in terms of geographical location. Our research into the available work force in this area has identified a great pool of talent available for transport, distribution and warehouse professionals. With peak requirements we will be employing up to 200 people.

We were honoured that the Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis, the Mayor of Luton Cllr Mohammed Farooq and the MP for Luton North Kelvin Hopkins were able to be present. Many of our associates and customers, even those from Europe wanted to be part of this event to celebrate the development and growth of Secured Mail and we are delighted they could be with us”.

HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis said “I am delighted that Bedfordshire continues to attract cutting edge, entrepreneurial businesses such as Secured Mail. We have a significant pool of talent in this county as well as a geographical location second to none. I look forward to Secured Mail forming a strong relationship with our local community.”
