Carolyn Maddox joined Next Wave Partners in 2010 and is Chief Operating Officer. She is on the Investment Committee of the funds.
Carolyn has many years’ experience in private equity, most recently as an Executive Director of Bridges Fund Management from its inception in 2002 to April 2010. At Bridges, Carolyn led investments in the consumer, business services, education and training and environmental sectors and sat on the boards of a number of portfolio companies. From 2009 she also headed up deal origination. She started her career as a strategy consultant with the LEK Partnership and then moved to 3i Group plc working as an Investment Controller. She joined Causeway Capital in 1990 and became a Director of Causeway and then of ABN Amro Private Equity (UK) Ltd where, over ten years, she worked on a wide range of transactions. Prior to joining Bridges she was a Director of Equinox Securities, a business focusing on raising finance for technology companies.
At Next Wave Carolyn leads investor reporting, portfolio governance, recruitment, resource management, regulation and compliance and has been responsible for recruiting and building the investment team. She also focuses on growing the firm and has established an international alliance of mid-market funds operating in Europe, the USA and China, of which Next Wave is a founding member.
Carolyn is an Associate and on the Advisory Board of Leader’s Quest, a global organisation working with leaders across business, government and civil society who want to contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive world. She is also a Trustee of the Leader’s Quest Foundation, which empowers grassroots leaders in India.
She is a graduate of Cambridge University with an MA in History.
